The Strength of Silence

Posted on August 29, 2025 by General Coco

The Strength of Silence

There was a time in society when people lived by morals, when principles mattered, and when dignity was upheld even in conflict. But we live in a generation where thoughtlessness and carelessness are paraded openly, and people no longer feel shame about their actions. It is shocking, and it is sobering, because it reveals just how far humanity has drifted from honor.

When we face disrespect, slander, or humiliation, our first reaction may be to defend ourselves, to lash out, or to expose the wrong for what it is. But true strength is not always found in speaking. Sometimes it is found in silence. Silence does not mean weakness, and it does not mean naivety. On the contrary, it takes greater strength to hold your peace when your flesh wants to rise up and fight. It takes wisdom to recognize that some people are ruled by a lower authority, and no matter what you say, your words will never change them.

To stand quietly in the face of disrespect is not surrender, it is victory. Because in silence, you declare that you are above the games of men. You declare that you are governed by Heaven, not by your emotions. And you declare that your value is not determined by the noise of others but by the voice of the One who called you His own.

I have learned that if I ever chose to open my mouth, I could tear my accusers apart with truth. But restraint is greater than retaliation. There is power in choosing peace over chaos, and in refusing to step down from the place of dignity God has placed you in. The dividing line is clear: those who live for the approval of men will continue in their recklessness, but those who live for the approval of God will remain unshaken.

So let them talk, let them mock, let them display their lack of character. As for me, I will stay quiet. My silence is not weakness. It is strength.

    The strength of silence:

    Wow General Coco, this is so much what we are all dealing with right now.
    Here’s my story;
    A few years back a family member cursed me called me names stated they hated me. Id cry and ask myself what have I done bc this person always came to me 1st for help, and I gave & gave
    Over & over and even yelled back a few times bc I had done so much for this person.
    Then one day in the shower a voice came through and said, I put them in your life bc you have the empathy & compassion & love to change them.
    They envy you your heart & only wish to be more like you. I cried so hard bc Yeshua had given me an assignment and I didnt realize this. After more hurtful words, I said to this person
    ” im sorry you feel this way, but I love you and im not your enemy so instead of working against me let’s work together.
    They cried and said ” im sorry I get so overwhelmed & frustrated I don’t know what to do”.
    We’ve been close friends ever since.
    So Yeshua thank you & im still working this assignment.
    Love Cindy Dillon
